One of the most frequent questions we get asked is where can I get a jazz gig for my band in the North of England? To help make your searching easier we have created The Northern Jazz Promoter Directory. This is a curated list of active jazz venues, promoters and festivals across the North of England.

The directory is designed to help musicians, bands and agents (within and beyond the north) find organisations programming jazz on a regular basis. The directory will continue to grow and the listings are reviewed several times each year. We realise we might have missed someone so we welcome suggestions for additions or corrections. There are currently 83 entries in the directory including an ‘A’ and a ‘Z’ - from Alsager Jazz Society in East Cheshire right down to Zeffirellis in the Lake District. The filterable online map can help you to find exactly what you’re looking for. You might want to filter entries by region, town or type of organisation or just do a simple name search.

To make sure this information is practical and useful, the directory isn’t just a 'what's on' listings guide or a promotional platform for promoters. It does not include jam sessions, DIY gigs, private functions or promoters who are not currently actively taking bookings (jam sessions are an interesting topic and that is something we hope to look at sometime in the future).

You have two options how to use the directory. You can either browse the directory online or you might find it more useful to download a spreadsheet version which you could use offline and start to add your own notes.
