Zoe Gilby awarded Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Awards

The northern jazz scene was well represented last night at the 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Awards organised by the All Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group (APJAG) in the swish surroundings of Pizza Express Live in Holborn, London will three northerners shortlisted for awards – Jamil Sheriff (Educator of the Year), Marsden Jazz Festival (Venue or promoter of the Year) and Zoe Gilby (Jazz Vocalist of the Year). Zoe Gilby was a popular winner in her category.

Zoe Gilby is a vocalist and songwriter and, making a stunning impression on the music scene today.

Sage Gateshead invited Zoe to be the featured soprano soloist for the spiritual work of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert. The Zoe Gilby Quartet has been performing rural tours facilitated by National Rural Touring and her quartet was selected for Jazz North’s Northern Line Scheme, her album Twelve Stories was released to critical acclaim
