About northern line

If you haven’t yet heard, northern line is Jazz North’s exciting new touring initiative that offers a hand-picked roster of northern artists – selected by a panel of industry specialists – out to northern promoters at special subsidised rates, along with professional development and media support to the artists. We’re now developing Round 2 of this exciting, successful project and we want to share this music with you.

Morning and afternoon Receptions

As some of you will be travelling from a distance we’ll be hosting two receptions so you don’t miss out on anything. The events will be easy to find in The Square Albert (just opposite the mjf main stage) http://albertsquarechophouse.com/ :

  • 11 am: Morning reception where you can learn more about the scheme
  • 4:15pm – 5pm Late afternoon drinks reception/networking – where you’ll get the chance to meet some of the bandleaders and other people involved in the scheme.
  • Reserved meeting space – We’ve reserved the reception space all day for all promoters and bandleaders as a safe haven for any dialogue you may wish to have.

Three venues in easy walking distance

We’ll be presenting each of the bands across three venues at this year’s manchester jazz festival – the Thwaites Festival Pavilion in Albert Square (next to the Town Hall), St Ann’s Church (in St Ann’s Square) and Matt & Phred’s (in the Northern Quarter). Performances start at 12.10pm and run through until 11pm. Each gig is free for you to attend, all the venues are within walking distance.

Special reward if you attend all 12 gigs!

To add some fun to the day we’re offering a special reward if you attend all 12 gigs.
