This is an exciting and challenging time for Jazz North. Established less than 3 years ago and we have now been awarded National Portfolio status by Arts Council England from April 2015.
We are now seeking additional board members to support, strengthen and energise our Board to develop the necessary capabilities, resources and structures to grow a sustainable vibrant organisation.
We seek board members whose profile, reputation and skills will enable them to act as a powerful ambassador for Jazz North in any forum.
We would expect that potential board members to share our vision for jazz in the North and our belief that jazz has the transformational power to enrich lives through improvisation. We are specifically, but not exclusively, looking for enthusiastic, entrepreneurial-minded, ambitious individuals with expertise in one or more of the following fields:
- Professional music practice
- Business development
- Finance and accounting
- Corporate Governance
As a board member you will have excellent communication skills and be eager to bring your expertise to work with our Senior Management Team in order to demonstrate strong leadership within a committed and active board.
As a board member you will have legal responsibility for Jazz North, ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivers the outcomes for which it has been set up and the strategic objectives of our 2015-2020 business plan.
In exchange we offer you the opportunity to be an essential part of building a vibrant, successful and innovative new arts organisation.
This is a volunteer role; board members are not remunerated and are expected to commit to the time equivalent of about 10 days per year, including 4 board meetings a year plus occasional attendance at Jazz North events. Travel expenses can be paid.
